RULES AND REGULATIONS


FIREARM SAFETY

You will see firearm safety reminders posted throughout our facility, and not just in the range area. All staff, members, and users of this range must follow these rules at all times. They are clear, simple, and designed for everyone’s safety.

Due to the seriousness of these rules, the penalty for breaking one of these rules, either intentionally or unintentionally, may result in being banned from the entire facility, and a letter being sent to the Chief Firearms Office or even criminal prosecution.

  1. TREAT EVERY FIREARM AS IF IT WERE LOADED AT ALL TIMES.
  2. NEVER COVER ANYTHING WITH THE MUZZLE THAT YOU DO NOT WISH TO DESTROY.
  3. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON TARGET.
  4. ALWAYS BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET (and what is behind it).


RANGE SAFETY

You will see range safety reminders posted throughout our facility, and not just in the range area. Due to the seriousness of these rules, the penalty for breaking one of these rules, either intentionally or unintentionally, may result in a number of actions depending on the nature of the negligent act, up to and including, loss of facility shooting privileges.

  1. Everyone must wear proper ear and eye protection while in the shooting bays.
  2. All guns must be cased, bagged, or holstered while being moved outside of the ranges and safe handling areas.
  3. Firearms can only be loaded on the firing line.
  4. Keep your muzzle pointed down range and below the top of the range backstop at all times.
  5. No person is permitted to move in front of the firing line for any reason, without the approval of a Range Officer.
  6. Only properly certified shooters are authorized to carry and/or draw a loaded handgun from a holster.
  7. Only ammunition of the types and calibers authorized will be used. When in doubt, ask the staff.
  8. No black powder, steel core, steel case or multi-projectile ammunition allowed on any range.
  9. A person who appears under the influence of any mind-altering substances or alcohol will be denied entrance & possibly barred from the premises.


RANGE REGULATIONS

The policies ensure the efficient, safe operation of the facility. They also give a level of comfort to the other users as these practices allow others to use the facility safely and without hindrance. Once again, the penalty for breaking these policies will depend upon the nature of the transgression. However, if a user breaks these policies, they may be barred permanently from using our facility to shoot in.

  1. Members are responsible for their guests and their actions.
  2. The first licensed shooter in the bay is deemed to be the “Range Officer” until a staff member enters the range.
  3. All visitors will properly sign a waiver before using the facility.
  4. Casing and un-casing of firearms must be done in the shooting booth or safe room. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  5. An unlicensed shooter MUST be supervised at all times by an appropriately licensed person. The supervisor must remain within arm's reach during all firearm handling.
  6. When not needed in the lane, boxes, bags, and cases may be placed below the shooting table. Please do not block the air walls.
  7. Targets should be placed at shooter’s shoulder level to prevent unnecessary damage to the target carrier system.
  8. For health reasons, no food or drinks are allowed on the range.
  9. Only ONE SHOOTER allowed at a time per lane.
  10. Misfired rounds of ammunition will be placed in propane tanks located at the back of the range.
  11. Report any damages to range staff immediately.
  12. Black powder is prohibited in the facility.
  13. The minimum target distance in the rifle bay is 40 yards (back of range).
  14. Ensure only one door is open at a time when entering or exiting a shooting bay.
  15. No steel ammunition of any form is allowed on any range, for safety reasons. As part of our ammo inspection we ask that no ammunition be brought to Phoenix Range preloaded in magazines as it can cause problems during the magnet test for steel core ammunition. 
  16. All firearms must have a sight mounted (red dot, scope, iron sights, etc).
  17. Shotguns are allowed but with single projectile ammunition only (slugs). Also pistol grip or birds head grip only shotguns are not allowed, all shotguns must have a full shoulder stock
